Montpellier Close in on the French Title
Montpellier are on the verge of winning the French Ligue 1 title following a hard fought 1-0 victory agianst Toulouse at Stade Municipal. They lead second place Paris Saint Germain by five points, although the Parisiens have a game in hand. In a closely fought game Younes Belhanda gave the visitors the lead early in the first half and Olivier Giroud could have added a second goal but missed a penalty after the break. In the end Giroud’s miss did not harm Montpellier’s surge towards the title. The players and visiting fans celebrated wildly after the final whistle knowing that if PSG slip up this weekend against current French champions Lille the Ligue 1 crown is theirs to lose.
